    Multiply Rows By 365

    Hi guys

    i have been asked to create a new range of UPC on for each day of the year per product. This means i have to generate 365 copies of the same row on another sheet.

    Could you please give me a hand

    imagine that the rows in the attached sheet should each be multiplied by 365.

    \1

    This is not clear at all. What is UPC? Please understand that we do not know your subject matter or jargon. We also can not read your mind.

    Please try to explain in more detail what you want to achieve and and provide a sample of the expected result, i.e. one new sheet for each row of data, with 365 rows all the same? Or one new sheet where each row of your original data is repeated 365 times?

    What is the point of this? I can't see the point in having 6570 rows of duplicated data.

    Would it not be better, and easier, to have one sheet with a column for every day of the year and however many rows you need for your products?

    Re: Multiply Rows By 365

    Ok the story goes like this

    I have to find a solution to be able to read expiry date info from our food products
    We currently receive cartons containing foods (ie a box containing 12 cans of tomato)
    All the products bare the same upc (barcode)
    What I want to do is to generate a DB of new UPCs that will translate all previous information plus an expiry date so by scanning the product barcode you could get expiry info.
    Imagine that I have two lots of the same food expiring on different dates with factory UPC 20696965-canned tomato, 250ml

    After the products are received by our warehouse each lot should receive a diferent UPS
    50696901-canned tomato, 250ml, 14/01
    50696902-canned tomato, 250ml, 20/01

    The Expiry dates will only display DD/DD. No year

    After I generate this DB I will then convert it according to our system and load it in

    I have a stock control system running on an AIX server.

    @martinleyland

    'so we don't get more than 65536 rows of data
    Good point, but I don't think this is an issue with Excel 2010, which the OP states as their version. Extend your thinking to 1 Million rows (and then some), and break out of the framework of an Excel version 8 years out of date

    @marinos.a

    for the scenario you describe, you definitely do not need separate data sheets with pre-filled 365 rows for each day of the year.

    You can collect the data for each product in a simple, contiguous table that has all the fields pertinent to your data collection requirements.

    Different products, different dates, different qualities <whatever they may be>, collected in a simple, two-dimensional table with fields (columns) that collect alll the data you need to collect.

    You can then use another sheet to report on that data, sorted by product, date, expiry date, XYZ, UPC or whatever.

    Don't make your life more complicated than it needs to be.

    One sheet/table for entry of raw data.

    Reporting on another sheet.

    Then Excel can do wonders with just a few click of the mouse.

    cheers
