error msg in VBA, ambiguous name that locks Excel

I was naming my textboxes in a UserForm in Excel VBA and mis-typed the name and got this msg
"could not set the name property, ambiguous name"

....and then it locked Excel and I cannot click on anything,

    ERRRG.....not even the save button.

Is there a way to free up the screen so that I can save my worksheet?

Is it for a form? If so, exit the form by clicking the x at the top corner and it should free up the workbook.

Re: error msg in VBA, ambiguous name that locks Excel

I was in the VBA editor and naming my textboxes on a UserForm, mis-typed and it locked up and my cursor turned into a "no" symbol and it wouldn't let me click on anything...not even the msg window's red x to close the window.

Not all was lost though, Excel automatically saved at some point and saved my worksheet up to a point. I didn't get to keep all of my work, but most of it..everything after the point of autosave to when it locked up was gone.

Thread is "Solved", was able to recover most of my work with the autosave feature.

That's happened to me before, Excel 2010's automatic save is great in situations like this.

I try to save every time I've completed a something in the VB Editor
    Hope that helps.

Press Ctrl, Alt and Esc together.

After reading this thread, felt a little despondent. This sorted the problem out, didn't loose anything and kept on working.

Thanks charlie8500, that's the simple answer I needed, and it worked - cleared the VBA lock.
