    Return Y/N after matching from multiple lookup values separated by comma

    Hi,

    First post to the forum. Appreciate all the help. I looked into the topics and I am not getting the result I want. Here is the question as I wish to create a validation table from following table:

    A B
    R1 Bob t
    R2 Sue x
    R3 Bob a
    R4 Sue a
    R5 Tom b

    F1 = Sue
    D2 = a

    How do I get a Yes/No answer for the combination of Sue and a by looking up the table?

    Please see attached the sample spreadsheet.

    Thanks so much for help.
    I would

    Put this formula in E2, then copy down and across the rest of the table.

    =IF(ISNUMBER(MATCH(E$1&"-"&$D2, INDEX($A$1:$A$5&"-"&$B$1:$B$5, 0), 0)), "Yes", "No")

    Wow, that's quick, simple and elegant solution.

    Thank you so much!
