New pictures dont update as expected

Hi Folks

I've encountered a strange anomaly when changing pictures in an image.

The Images are addressed by object variables and are all set to an initial picture and all start off invisible.

I then change some of the picture via its object variable and then make them all visible.

Problem is the images show with their original picture and don't change until all the pictures have been made visible.

The udeal and ideal routines basically make all 36 images visible in a way that simulates the cards being dealt.
The same thing was happening with the textbox, which I managed to fix by entering in the change event

but that solution applied to the images has no effect and the images don't have a change event.

Any suggestions?
