Creating a formula to find the first specific number of characters from a description

    Please see attachment.

In column E theres a whole list of descriptions, I need an advanced forumla to create a sku for them based on the following requirements.

The first part will remain PCCWT-

The second bit will take the first 3 letters of the manufacturer (ie for audi it will be pccwt-aud-)

The third bit will take the first 2 letters of the next word (model) (ie for an a audi A4 it will be PCCWT-AUD-A4-)

Then the first 2 letters of a description (ie there could be an audi a4 estate or audi a4 saloon, there could be 3 door hatchback or 5 door hatchhback - I need to try and find a way to dot his so that it works the same for these skus as well as one other systems.

    ie PCCWT-AUD-A4-EST)

Then it will take the first four numbers of the year so if its 1995- 2000 it will be PCCWT-AUD-A4-EST-1995-) - this will be tricky as some models have numbers so maybe theres a way that it will only find the first 4 numbers that are together without a space or -

Then it will take the shade which will be either 5%, 20%, 35%, 50% or 70% (it will add these witout the % so PCCWT-AUD_A4-EST-1995-05 (note if its 5% its changed to 05 so its always 2 numbers)

If it says full kit, rear kit or front klit then it will add FR (front) FU (full) RE (rear)

So the final will be PCCWT-AUD-A4-EST-1995-05-FR

Ive got a few channels that I need these skus adding to so if theres anyone on here who can do this work for me (as I know it maybe siomething that someone has to actually get there hands on to make something that works Im happy to subcontract the work out (obviously its gonna take a while for me to do these manually but I need to make sure the skus are made the same on 2 different channels.

Re: advanced programming to create skus

Is there a way you can separate column E out into the different fields you list above?
Is your code running too slowly?
Does your workbook or database have a bunch of duplicate pieces of data?
Have a look at this article to learn the best ways to set up your projects.
It will save both time and effort in the long run!

hi, visionwindowfilms, it would be nice and helpful to see example and result at least of the one row for each manufacturer

    Re: Create SKUs

hi, visionwindowfilms, thanks for that but I asked you to provide a result for at least one car model of each manufacturer (not one). I'm not sure your task is easy to accomplish

    Hi visionwindowfilms
Is this the sort of data are looking for?
Haven't checked it all and there are some source data inconsistencies and some format queries that could be discussed for draft2?
    You can PM me.
