Refrencing subsquent cells into orded worksheets

Hi,

Any help with the below would be greatly appreciated.

I am a University tutor and am trying to simplify the set up of the results sheets for assignments. I have run into a problem that I could really use some help with.

I have a worksheet with a list with student details;

• column A - student ID numbers,
• column B - students Full name,
• column C - students last name,
• column D - students first name

The rest of the workbook will contain sheets with the marks for each student. At the moment there are only two sheets, the student details sheet and the marking template sheet which will be duplicated and the results enters for each student (there will be one sheet per student).

I want to be able to insert a formula into a given cell (C6) of the marking template which will reference cell A2 of the student details work sheet and if the work sheet is copied it will reference cell A3 of the student details work sheet.

You should read up on use of the INDIRECT() function.

For the reply, I am aware of INDIRECT but don't know how how it works on ranges.

However I worked out how to do what I needed with a combination of INDIRECT and VLOOKUP
