counting colored cells while using contitional formatting

    Hello all,
I'm using conditional formatting to color some cells in my spreadsheet green. I have several different criteria on different columns that colors the cells (green). Is there some way to count the total number of green cells within a certain range?
I've tried several of the VBA scripts that count color, and these don't seem to work with conditional formatting coloring the cells... At least, the cells seem as if they aren't colored to these VBA scripts. If I color a cell myself, then the scripts work, but the conditional formatting seems invisible to these scripts.
    So is this possible?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Another option is to use is what makes the cell green?

In the example script below I have validation set to if cell = a then green

so my script runs through the col "F" and checks all the cells that have an "a" in them and counts them.

    Just a thought...
