need help creating a macro

I am taking data from a column in sheet1 and in sheet2 and i would like to record a macro that combines the two columns on a third sheet. I simply want the sheet1 column to be referenced and copied then have sheet2 data pick up and start listing data after sheet1. the problem i am having is that the amount of data varies and the current macro i recorded will cause the data from sheet2 to overlap the sheet1 data because it doesnt know where sheet1 data ends on the third sheet. I would greatly appreciate any help, i know this isnt a complicated procedure but i'm not extremely experienced with excel either. Thanks!
