Where do I save a macro that makes changes to many files?

Hi,

Could you please tell me where I should save a macro that makes changes to many files? Could I have one main macro that is an executable file? For instance, I save the macro in my reports folder and when I double-click on it, the macro runs (opening, changing and closing different Excel files).
