A conditional formatting cell colour problem

Right I have a list of studnets who will complete a certain number of tasks. From these tasks I will decide whether they are complete, this will then give a percentage. This percentage is then used with conditional formatting to fill the cell they are in. I have three colours relating to the percentage, red (79 and below), orange(89-80), green (100-90).

Now I what to then fill the cell with the studenbts name in with the same colour they got for the percentage.

I have tried, many times, but no luck.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi,

For the conditional formatting you can use formula.

Say the % is in A1 and the name in B1 select A1:B1 and use:

Condition 1: Formula is...=$A1<=0.79 and format as red
Condition 2: Formula is...=$A1<=0.89 and format as orange

Then just colour the background of A1:B1 green using normal formatting.

just use the same formula you have in the percentage in the students name cell.
