    Re: accumulated dependency calculation

To me your 'explanation' is as 'intriguing' as 'incomprehensible'.
Can you please read it over from a reader's perspective ?
If you find it improvable, please do not hesitate to improve it.

    Re: accumulated dependency calculation

How would one know what's dependent on what by looking at your single-column list?

Suggest you post a workbook with an example showing expected results.

I think it is only clear to you. Good luck.

    Re: accumulated dependency calculation

How did the data in col E come to be? (But at least it answers the question, "where are the dependencies?")

    It's not very " machine readable", e.g.,

"potentially all previous need to be repeated"

    "5.3.11.3/4, 5.3.18.1/6, 5.3.19.5"

    "5.5.5.1.1/3, 5.3.11.3/4 and 5.3.19.5"

Given the dependency calculation, is the goal to minimize the sum of the column?

What's the genesis of the problem and the utility of solving it?

    Re: accumulated dependency calculation

As long as you can't formulate your concept of 'dependency' it's impossible to translate it to VBA (or any other language whatsoever).
