    EMBED() and ActiveX CommandButton

    Hi,

    I've added some ActiveX command buttons to my spreadsheet which call a macro in Module1 - first time I've tried using these controls.

    I accidentally clicked the formula bar after clicking on one of these buttons in Design Mode and I am getting an error saying it is not a valid reference or defined name. The only way I can get out of this error is by deleting what is in the formula bar, but then my button doesn't work any more.

    The text in the formula bar is =EMBED("Forms.CommandButton.1","").

    Why is this happening and can I restore the function of my buttons or do I need to start again?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers
    Steve

    When you get the error, click OK and then hit the Escape key.

    I take it back...you deleted the original text from your button, right?

    So what I've discovered is that removing that text changes the properties of the object. Whereas it was once an OLEObject, it is a picture object after you've removed the text from the formula bar. Maybe someone else knows a way to convert the picure back into an OLEObject, but I'm betting it would be much simpler to just replace the button.
