    Re: sorting a text file

    Hi hvalhund,

When I paste this into Excel it automatically writes each line of your source text into different rows and you can use text-to-columns to make it break it into a table. Are you saying that the data as it really appears in the source text is not formatted exactly as you have written it in your post?

If this is the case, a macro is going to be required. Is the data always in the same format as you have written - what is it that you are using to delimit where the new row of your table should start. In your particular example, your rows always end with 010000 or 000000 - would it always be this way, and is this where you tell that a row has ended and its time to start a new one?

    Kind regards,

    Paul
