Extracting Data from specific Cells in many different workbooks into one row

    Hi all,

I am new here and I actually joined this forum because of a challenge I have with data extraction.

I work in a container terminal that has to prepare a transaction report for each ship that we handle. We have an Excel 2007 Macro enabled template for that and each report is saved as a separate workbook in a folder for each month.

We extract specific data from each workbook into one neat row for each ship into a master data file once that workbook is complete, for further analysis and reporting. Currently It takes 30 mins to do this per vessel by manually typing them into the master data sheet. We sail up to 500 vessels a year. Its a lot of time and creates room for errors.

I need a Macro, VBA code, something excel based, to automate the extraction of this info from the separate workbooks into the Master data file such that fresh info lands in a fresh row.

    Appreciate your feedback

    Ebun

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!
