updating quantity from one spreadsheet to another.

Hi All,

First let me say that I am an amateur when it comes to creating macros. I am trying to create a macro that will help me update a holdings spreadsheet. I am not looking for someone to do this for me but I am looking how to learn how to do it with some advise.

I have attached two spreadsheets below. the putseg example is the holdings spreadsheet that I am looking to update. The trade spreadsheet contains the trades that I want to update the putseg example with.

What I need is for the macro to find the account number and cusip on the putseg example and update column E (amount) on the putseg example with column D (quantity) on the trade example. However there is a small twist. On the trade example column H (DF/RF) indicates weather the trade is incoming or outgoing. So when the putseg example is updated, quanity would have to be positive for DF and negative for RF. The quanity on the trade example would simply need to be added or subtracted from the string already in place in the quantity column on the putseg example.

I don't even know if this is possible to do. If anyone can offer some helpful advise I would be most grateful.
