Quotation Marks Getting in the Way

I have a small macro which dumps the contents of several ranges of cells to a text file. This text file is in turn read by another application (VLISP) and is process inside of AutoCAD. All looks good except for the quotation marks which get included when the macro writes the text file. Here is the macro code:

Two of the fields are numbers and they come in just fine. But the remainder of the fields are "Y" or "N" text and the line gets written with quotes around the letters. So my question is there a way to keep the quotes from being included in the first place?

I've found a way in the VLISP program using substr to strip off the quotes so this is working but on the other end of the process. Six of one....1/2 dozen of the other I guess. But if someone has a solution which could keep from having to strip any quotation marks off in the first place I'd be interested in hearing about that.
