Referencing closed worksheets on a server

    Hi,

I need some help with referencing cells from closed spreadsheets on a server into a summary spreadsheet on the same server.

Here’s an example of a working formula:

    ='http://Sample.com/sites/ Sharepoint Portal/Scores Folders/Site 5 Documents/Score Cards/2012/[SC_name_01_01_12.xlsm]Score Entry'!$R$51

This does return the correct value.

    The problem is:

I would like to have the individual file names built by using the concatenate or the “&” function from a grid as shown below. This way I can change names and dates without having to retype every direct reference.

    Example:

The reference file name for cell D5 would be Smith 01_01_12

    ='http://Sample.com/sites/ SharePoint Portal/Scores Folders/Site 5 Documents/Score Cards/2012/[SC_smith_01_01_12.xlsm]Score Entry'!$R$51

    D E F G
    date 01_01_12 01_08_12 01_15_12 01_22_12
    names
5 smith REF REF REF REF
6 jones REF REF REF REF
7 conner REF REF REF REF

All of my attempts have yielded either the REF! error or NAME! error. I’ve tried using various combinations of nesting the following functions without success: Hyperlink, indirect, indirect.ext

It just doesn’t want to work for me.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks for any suggestions.
    JE

    Hi

Can you not map a drive to the internet server?
