If you have a newer version of Excel, type Alt+d and a message will pop up: "Continue typing the menu key sequence ..."
My favorite little known key sequences are the context menu shortcuts.
If you're on Windows with a keyboard that has a menu key, copy a range of cells, then select a destination.
Press the menu key (between Rt-Alt and Rt-Ctrl) then press V to paste values only, or R to paste formats only, or T to transpose+paste.

All those Links are broken. ( The list of 13 )

This happened once before.
The problem is that you have pasted in the URL “as seen” in a post.
You have probably copied those from a Post and pasted into a Post.
That may work in some Forum Editors.
At excelforum that will not work: What is seen typically, and what then copies directly, is just a shortened part of the correct full URL

These are the ways to get the Links given in a Post at excelforum

I used the “Black Character Trick” ( https://www.excelforum.com/tips-and-...rkarounds.html ) to stop the Forum software recognising the links and so preventing them from being turned into shortened links in the final post
( I posted like this: https://www.youtube.com/user/ExcelVbaIsFun/playlists )

I just checked each URL individually and they are all OK.
As I mentioned in the referenced post, links are sometimes changed without warning at YouTube. So an alternative to those links is to enter these names in YouTube search and check out the Peooples Play lists..( this bit of info has also slipped off your Post #168 )

I personally find it best to download those play lists, and then make a very long play list which you can let run in the background whilst you use the best method for learning.. Practice, Practice, and then if you have time, a bit more practice.

( I made that list a couple of years ago, and I am not up on the current stand of YouTube Videos in Excel VBA, but many of those Play lists have proved to be very popular )

Hope that helps.

Re: New to Excel Programming and looking for learning materials

Hi,

If you want to understand the VBA syntax to write your own macros and understand the macros written from others, you should definitely understand the fundamental concept called Excel object model.

Here are some Excel object model articles that might help:

https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vba...-vba-reference
http://www.dummies.com/software/micr...-object-model/
https://www.wizdoh.com/excel-vba-obj...l-demystified/
https://powerspreadsheets.com/excel-vba-object-model/

Thanks

I agree, I also still use it at intermediate level.
One unusual thing about that site I found is that the owner, Paul Kelly, usually finds time to answer comments given there. Many Blog owners have long since not been able to cope with the extra comments generated as there sites have grown in popularity and / or size. Or some owners have in recent years have given in to the pressure of spam attacks and have had to disable their comments sections.
Paul Kelly site is good and not so well known in my opinion,, so thanks for mentioning it.
My current favourite site is https://powerspreadsheets.com/
But the author is extremely thorough. If you really want a good well explained and thorough learning then that is the site. You must however have the time necessary to obtain the knowledge that he shares. (Sadly he has recently had to remove his comments due to problems with spammers)

Microsoft changed some shortcuts between 2003 and 2007 versions and they continue to change them.
Menu shortcuts, get changed too.

Re: New to Excel Programming and looking for learning materials

Im using excel to analyse a support system in steam tunnels. I have gathered a bunch of bulk data and exported it to excel. Now im trying to figure out a formula that would allow me to calculate the distance between expansion joints. It would be easy to make a sum of the distances in the yellow area and then the green area and keep going for every other expansion joint after. My issue is that there are a few thousand expansion joint and multiple thousand rows of data. is there a way to automate the sum function to recognise the text "Expansion Joint" and sum the distances between them. the number of distance values between expansion joints differ all over the spreadsheet.
