Hi i was wondering what would be the best approach to graph and solve a theoretical model. Would it be by using Solver?
Maybe. Maybe not. Hard to tell without more detail. Post a sample workbook.
I find that the most important part of this kind of question is usually not specifically Excel related. The most important part of this question is around the math behind the problem. If you understand the math and the methods used to solve this problem, then you are in a position to specifically ask, "How do I program this solution in Excel."
What real world process is this theoretical model supposed to describe?
What methods (Newton Raphson or Monte Carlo or ???) are used to solve the equation(s)?
What is a reasonable solution to the problem, and how will you know the solution is reasonable?
Are there any trivial solutions to avoid or other regions where the model tends to fail or the method will have trouble converging on a solution?
I find that once I have a good understanding of the underlying math, then it is a lot easier to talk about how to program the solution into a spreadsheet.
