    Worksheet calculation formula

I have a large training record spreadsheet and now the higher management require a certain type of analysis report which I am trying to compile....

So far I have been able to use the formula COUNTIF(Data!$E$2:$E$1611,"="&A3) and this gives me the total number trained against various courses (listed in A3:A10)

However I am now trying to ammend this calculation so that I can now break this down further by initial or refresher training and this is located in column L on the data sheet.

Any help appreciated on this matter

    Mal

    Hi

Looks to me that you need COUNTIFS, or SUMPRODUCT function.

Would you upload a small workbook for us?

I think it's easiest to use SUBTOTAL function. Then you can filter what do you want (group, trainer, both, anything else) and you'll always get desired number.
