Conditional Formatting with 2 variables (or 3?)

I have a problem that I've been trying to solve the last 2 days without results.

I need to add the period in which an employee will be working in a graph ( see Calendar Tab).

In the sheet 1, every employees will have a task assigned and a period. The task will be a drop down list (I only use 1,2 or 3 for now) and each task will have a different colour. Also, the period will be entered manually (for month to month).

For every task and period entered, I need the fields in the sheet Calendar to be automatically filled giving the criteria. For example, if employee xxx1 is assigned to task 1(let's say it's red) from May 2012 to December 2012, in the Calendar tab, a red line should appear automatically next to his name from May 2012 to December 2012.

Anyone as a solution for me?

    Regards!

hi Big1, welcome to ExcelForum, though this option does not meet each task different colouring requirement of yours but it's simple and pretty straightforward without using VB

Unfortunately the task has become more complex..

I now need to assign % of total assignment to each task therefore an employee can have many task assigned at a certain time, but they must all add up to 100% (so I need to receive some kind of warning when a 100% is busted or under 50%).

Also I need to have a different number for each possible option so I should have 18 options (vacation is always 100%)

Also the time plan changed from months to weeks. I attached the new file..

This is a lot more complex in my opinion, but if you find a solution, I will call you excel master!

    Regards

I can not say I understood all of your new requirements but so far it looks like this (no VB)
