Talking Matching contents within in columns

    Hello.

I need help with understanding if and how the contents can be matched between two columns.

I am attaching an Excel Sheet with an Example.

The attachment has an excel workbook with two sheet. One is what i have and the other is how i want.

I need to match contents in Column A in the orange (color code) and Column A in the maroon (color code)

Similarly, Column B in orange (color code) and Column B in the maroon (color code)

If you see, Row 21, in the orange color code ABC-4178 has column b contents as DEF590 and DEF4730.

If you see in maroon color code, ABC-4178 points has only DEF4730 in Column B and it has DEF590 listed in Row 22.

The reason the pink color code is the way it is, is because all the four columns are linked to each other.

The way i would like to have it is in the second sheet which is "What I want" in the Excel workbook.

If we have a solution for this, I would also really appreciate if you could explain me how you have written the Macros code.

    Thankyou in advance.

Teja, I was unable to open your attached file. Could please attempt to reattach via new post?
Perhaps it was the Noid who should have avoided me...
If you are satisfied with my solution click the small star icon on the left. Thanks
    1. Make a copy of your workbook and run the following code on your copy (just in case)
    2. With excel open, press ALT+F11 to open the Visual Basic Editor (VBE). From the "Insert" menu, select "Module".
    3. Paste the code from above into the empty white space. Close the VBE.
    4. From the developer tab, choose "Macros", select the Sub Name, and click "Run".

Red face Re: Matching contents within in columns

    Hello.

I had some problem with my Excel Worksheets.. I hope its fine now. I am attaching the Excel workbook.

Detail: There are three sheets in the workbook.
Sheet1. Is the dump from two separate modules.

Sheet2. There are two parts, The first part is organised by using Macros and the second part is by a pivot table. This is good but i would like to know if i could get a more advanced matching between columns.

Sheet3. This is what i want it to be. The first few rows in Sheet 2 and Sheet 3 are the same. But, if we look at Row 21,Column A has 4178 which traces to DEF590 and DEF4730. And Column C has ABC-4178 in Row-21 tracing toDEF4730 and tracing to DEF590 in Row-22.

Can DEF4730 and DEF590 in Column D be in the same Row 21?

I do not want to change any contents in any row..

Please see Sheet3 in the Excel workbook for a better understanding on how i want it to be. Row21-Row 33 are anexample on how i want it to be. This is on pivot table.. So is there any way to fix it using the pivot table or do we need to use macros? can we combine using both pivot table and macros?

I will be very very grateful if you can help me with this and also if you could explain on how this is done.

Please let me know if you can download the file now?
