Adding Up Names on a List and Entering Result

New here! There's probably a simple solution, but I've been unable to find it. I have a list of 1200+ people (column A). Some of those people appear once, some 10+ times. I want to see how many times each name appears on the list. Then I need the number of entries for each name to appear in a separate column. After I have the number of times each name appears, I plan on deleting duplicates. I'm more interested in getting that number rather than having the list of names.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks!

    Simplest... use a pivot table.
