    % format overriding cell format

I have cells that are set to "#,###;[red](#,###)" format. The contents are set by a SUMIFS formula. The data that is summed (ex. -25,000) is displayed as
(2500000%) in red. This only occurs with negative numbers, positive ones are display properly. I have tried everything to get it to the format I want. This inlcuded unprotecting/protecting the WS, locking/locking the cells, changing the format to a basic number format, .. everything i can think of but it never changes from the % format.

    An suggestions
    thanks all

Your format works fine for me, though I'd use #,###_);[red](#,###) to maintain alignment.

Is there any conditional formatting in the cell?

While ! I had not thought about that possibility (I guess my user decided to a make change I didn't know about).

    That solved it.
