Pair two weights together along with their piece count

Hello,
I'm trying to take the weights (in excel) of 9 different pieces and pair them up starting with the highest weight paired with the lowest weight and then the next highest with the next lowest, etc. Is there a way to have each weight associated with a piece count to help pair them up physically after excel tells you which weights go together and their total weight? Example below.

Pc Weight
1 23.2
2 23.7
3 24.1
4 22.7
5 22.6
6 23.0
7 23.1
8 23.0
9 23.0

Pair 1 pc's 3, 5 total weight = 46.7
Pair 2 pc's 2, 4 total weight = 46.4
Pair 3 pc's 1, 6 total weight = 46.2
Pair 4 pc's 7, 8 total weight = 46.1

Can I do this with functions or would I need a VB macro to do it?

Welcome to the forum!
Attached is an example workbook based on the criteria you described.
Because you have weights that are the same, I have a helper column (C) that gives a unique Weight Rank with this formula in cell C2 and copied down:

Then, in cell E2 and copied down is this formula to get the pairings:

Thanks for the quick response! What you put together works great! I really appreciate you taking the time to put that together for us, the guys are going to love this! I will give you credit!
