Opening External Excel Add ins on start up using VB

I have an excel add in that I have to open after opening excel. Once open it stays "on" until I close all my workbooks and then shuts down. I would like to have it automatically open each time I open excel on my desktop at best and at worst whn I hit the first update button on any worksheet that requires the use of the add in.

Can anybody tell me how I go about doing either of these options please?

So if you install it via the addins dialog, it doesn't stay installed?

I've had it installed for literally years on excel 2003, but never been at a level worth considering having/needing it open before to run spreadsheets etc. So in a word (or three); I don't know!

What I can say is that if I open it once in excel, for as long as I have a workbook open it remains open.... any hints?

How exactly do you open it?

I click on a desktop link... can't get to the source code as it's password protected. I was going to attempt to hard code it in to my spreadsheets initially but had to give up on that idea. I just wondered if I put the app into a specific folder whether I could call it with VB code as it works perfectly once open. My next task to complete the process neatly would be to code a right click over a graph (any graph does it) and somehow press "ok" on the form it opens to export all my workbook graphs to bitmap (JWALKER - Charttools is the add in for excel 2003)

I should add it is a stand alone "offline" add in...
