"PERSONAL.XLSB is locked for editing" notice when opening second instance of excel

    Hello,

Whenever I open a second instance of excel on my computer (running XP and Office 2007), I have a box come up that tells me "PERSONAL.XLSB is locked for editing." This occurred after playing around with VBA, but I am not sure why. Is there a way to locate the PERSONAL.XLSB and either close it or get rid of it for good? It doesn't necessarily lead to any problems, but it is kind of annoying to see every time excel is opened.

    Any advice would be great.

    Thanks, csch123

I guess that you have recorded a macro and saved it to personal.xlsb & so created the workbook. IT should be somewhere like

    at C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLStart

    Find it & delete it
    Hope that helps.
