    Default to Match Destination Formatting

I am copying a lot of data from a word document to an excel document and each time I copy and paste (Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V) I have to manually tell it to "Match Destination Formating". Is there an excel option to always default to this or can this be done with a macro so that each time I hit "Ctrl+V" or "Right click Paste" to always default to "Match Destination Formating".

    1) Copy something into memory
    2) Turn on the Macro Recorder being sure to assign a hotkey of some kind to the new macro you're creating
    3) Now just do this one thing... select Paste > Paste Special > Values
    4) Turn off the recorder

That should do it, you should now have hotkey you can press instead of CTRL-V.... maybe CTRL-SHIFT-V... that will paste from memory to the active cell with a "values only" effect.

    Hi,

One way would be the following macro

Please Login or Register to view this content.
and create a keyboard short cut to the macro. Just avoid the reserved short cuts like Ctrl C, V etc. Ctrl-d (for destination) would work.
