How to use use automatic cell fill drag feature while string inside???

Sorry for the improper language in my title...not a excel master here.

I know if I have 0 enter into cell A1, I can enter = A1+2 into cell A2, and drag the cells down to make each cell increment by two. My question is can I do this if I have the number A001 in cell A1, and want A002 in cell A2, and A003, in A3, etc. Any insights? Thanks much.

You should be able to just select your initial cell and drag down and it will update as you go - try it.
