Delete Conditional Formatting conditions but keep cell formatting - Excel 2010

    Hi Everyone.

I haven't had any luck finding solutions to this problem on line. Trying to find an alternative to the 'paste data into Word and then paste back into Excel' approach. I want to be able to remove the conditional fomatting of a cell, yet keep the cell formatting (cell background color, font color, etc.).

Has anyone found a VBA solution for this? I've seen solutions for Excel 2003 which don't work in 2010.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

couldnt you just highlight the range you want, go into CF and delete whichever CF rules you dont want anymore?
    1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

Thanks for the reply. That approach would remove the formatting. I want to keep the formatting but lose the CF.

If the CF colored cells red for example. I'd want to keep the data in the cells, keep the red background color, but remove the CF.

    Thanks.

no, the "normal" formatting would remain, only the CF would be removed. for instance if the base color was red, and CF forced it to be green, removing the CF rule would make the cell revert back to red

In that scenario, I would want to keep the cells formatted as green without having relying on CF. I'm trying to copy and paste a large data set that contains conditional formatting. If I'm able to keep the format of the cells but remove the CF, I'll be able to significantly reduce my file size.

This is the closest that I've found to code to accomplish this: http://excel.tips.net/T001947_Removi...e_Effects.html However this code only works with Excel 2003.

    Thanks.
