    vlookup question, i think ?

I have a working workbook for student score keeping in which attendance is recorded everyday, and teachers use a userform to enter students' score per class. Currently, we teachers have to go to the attendance worksheet to see if a student was marked "excused absence", in which case they get a specific score for the class, rather than the absent score (60). I'd like to add a text box to the userform that displays the names of the students who have been marked "excused" so that we don't have to keep toggling back and forth between sheets, but i can't conceptualize how to do this...

verbally, it would be something like this:

if on sheet("attendance"), the column with today's date has an "EA", this text box should have the student's name from column 2 associated with the row the "EA" is in...

and then it would have to cycle through all 20 rows looking for "EA" for today's date...

I have never used vlookup before, and i can't seem to find any help on whether or not that would be applicable here.

thanks for any and all help !!!

I can't really post the working workbook, as it is full of names, so I'll see if I can put together a bare-bones example of what i'm looking to do...
    thanks guys !
