Recording macro totally ignores Conditional Formatting

Hi, I've been banging my head against a wall with this for a while.

When recording a macro, as soon as I start using conditional formatting tool, it doesn't record any instructions from it. Everything else is recorded fine, just not the conditional formatting . Any ideas?

    All that appears is
    '
    '
    '
    '

in place of where the conditional formatting code should be.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi, yelsobky,

I could only test it in my local version of Excel2003 SP3 (you indicate Excel2003 in your profile) - and itīs recording there (limit the input to a value between 5 and 10 and colour red):

That's strange. Sorry I'm using Excel 2010, I'll amend my profile.

It may sound odd but maybe the old rule still is valid: have you tried a ReBoot on your Computer?

    Holger,

Thanks for your suggestion - tried restarting and recording something again with no luck!

    Produced this lovely macro:

    Hi, yelsobky,

maybe youīll tell us what conditions you want included if you canīt figure out yourself on the samples delivered.

Sorry but I donīt know why your Excel doesnīt record that kind of macros and canīt help on that subject.

    Ciao,
    Holger

Basically if a cell in column G contains the word 'Sensitive', it needs to highlight the whole row in red with white bold text. Seriously can't work out what's wrong!

    Thanks!

Re: Recording macro totally ignores Conditional Formatting

    Hi, yelsobky,

I wasnīt quite sure about the 'whole row" so I let the macro apply the CF to the UsedRange on the activesheet:

Why are you so helpful? Thank you.

Unfortunately I added that sub to the end of my other macro but it didn't seem to apply.

By the way - When I manually apply conditional formatting, it works fine.

Did you try the code for itself? Did that work? If not: is it Sensitive or 'Sensitive' in the cell?

Sorry, no more ideas for the moment being.

That finally worked. I was being an idiot and forgot to remove the endsub. Holger, you have saved me days and days of headache. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Marked as solved, although you solved my specific issue - anyone else with this problem may have to just ask others to do the formatting and then paste the macro themselves
