We are wanting to add the macro/vb code to a buttom on the clients file.....

    So,,,
Client - (Inputfile.xlsm) to be saved on out FTP as (Datafile.xlsm) and then the Datafile.xlsm is closed and Inputfile is to stay open......

    Hi, Doug,

instead of using avariable for the original workbook and SaveAs and the clsoing and opening again have a look at SaveCopyAs which should do what you want but leave you in the original workbook.
