VBA Project password to see the references

    Hi ALl

I came across a problem with VBA Project password. I have a password to unshare a workbook so when I type the password in then it lets me see the VBA code. No problem. But When I try to set a reference in Tools->Reference then it asks me VBA project password. Whats it? I have no idea what password is it?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

You need to ask whoever set the password on the VBA project.
let Source = #table({"Question","Thread", "User"},{{"Answered","Mark Solved", "Add Reputation"}}) in Source

Re: VBA Project password to see the references

Thanks Olly. My colleague built the system but he said he didn't set any passowrd. The only password he set was to protect a workbook. Can you please explain me whats the point to set a password for VBA project? I can see the VBA code and make any changes in it by unsharing workbook. but with VBA project password, I just can't set the references.

    Any ideas??

    Many Thanks

That means without knowing the password i can't untick the missing reference to get rid of the compile error. Or can we do it programatically??

    Man Thanks

Re: VBA Project password to see the references

I'm trying to understand what is happening, here.

You unshare the workbook, then unprotect the workbook (using the password given), then try to access the VBA project, but it requires a password, which you don't have? Is that right?

If this IS the case, I'm not aware of any circumstances where this can happen other than by somebody applying a password to the VBA project. You need to find out who has done that, and get the password from them.

Re: VBA Project password to see the references

If you can see the VBA code for the workbook, then there is no further password you should need to set or remove a reference (though you can't remove a reference in use). Sounds like a corrupt workbook to me, which is the ultimate fate of all shared workbooks.
