Is there a way to run a Matlab code to input and output results into the same Excel file, without having to open the Matlab environment? Does Excel have an add for this?

I have very little to contribute with.
In the VBA editor choose Tools and then References. If you go down the list I'm sure you will find some Matlab stuff (if Matlab is installed on the same computer). Check the boxes that seem interesting.
Then you can hit F2, in the upper dropdown list select what looks like Matlab and the object browser below will list all objects in there. Not all of them are possible to use.
I assumed you already googled Excel and Matlab, I know that will give lots of hits.
