macro to copy a specific worksheet from all open files into one file

Hi All,

I know how to record a basic macro (but do not know VBA) so cannot edit the solutions that I find on the net to suit my requirements.

I have a number of files in a folder (that I can open myself). Each file has multiple worksheets.
I would like to copy the first/leftmost worksheet (all with different names) from each open file as individual worksheets; then put them in the 'Active empty file' (which has this macro).

In the first empty worksheet (which is also the active worksheet), I want a list of the 'worksheet names' that have been added. This is to check that I have not missed any file.

So you do not want the macro to open each file for you, copy the sheet and close the file? You want to open the files yourself and then run the macro?

the names of the files vary every month.

Even if the file names change each month, as long as they are in 1 folder, the macro should be able to work with them.

Even the folder name varies, as the months progress.
I would prefer to open the files myself.
.......but if you think the macro would work better any other way, I am totally ok with it :-)
