Save file xls file as xlsm - macro won't run in xlsm workbook

We saved a workbook we have used for years in xlsm format. Several really simple macros won't run. Many macros will.

We get run-time error '1004' Cannot run the macro 'Test'. The macro may not be available in this workbook or all macros may be disabled.

We click on the enable macro button when opening the workbook.

We also looked at options -> Macro security. No good.

We deleted all the code in the macto other than a msgbox. the macro will not run.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Any chance you could upload the offending file?

Try saving the xls file under a different name with the xlsm extension, and if the problem persits, please upload a sample of the xls file you have with all of the Code included, for us to have a look at.

OK. I think I have a possible idea as to how this problem may have came about. We have been emailing the most recent version of the workbook to my house. The workbook is saved locally on my computer at home. I have been writing code at home, then emailing the file back to work. When I get to work, I open the file and save it locally. My feeling is that somehow excel is aware that the file came over the internet and is not allowing some macros to run.

The odd part is that some macros will run, and others won't. All our forms open. I may be grasping at straws but... As always, any ideas are welcome.

Note: saving the xls as an xlsm with a different name did not help.

To check if emailing is the culprit, save the file on a Flash Drive, and then open it at work. See what happens then. Personally I don't believe emailing is to be blamed.

It would rather seem like the one computer runs on an earlier version, or a different updated Service Pack of Excel, than the other.
