    Counting Condiionally Formatted Cells

    Hi everyone,

I have googled everywhere about this and the solution I have seen did not work for me for some reason.

I have attached a simple spreadsheet that shows how I may input a classes response to a multiple choice test. The cells are formatted to change color depending on the answer I inputted in for that student. Green being correct and Red being wrong. I have a last column on the right to count how many greens (correct answers) there are. How to do I tell excel to count cells in a particular range that have been conditionally formatted a certain way.

Obviously my attached example is extremely simple. The real assessments I do are much more complex. Then I would like an extra row at the end to count how many of that question students got right. Again counting the greens, but in a different range.

    Thanks!

    Hello
If the correct answers are along D3:G3, as in your example, then maybe:

Copied down H4:H9. This counts the cell values not the conditional formatting. If you needed to count colours then I believe you would have to use VBA.

    Hope this helps.

This worked perfectly. Turns out counting the values worked just fine. Many thanks!
