    VBA books

    Hello,

I know this question has probably been asked a million times but I can't find one thread specifically. What is the best book for beginner VBA?

I'm deciding between two John Walkenbach books:
    • VBA Excel Programming for dummies
    • Excel 2010 Power programming with VBA

I know nothing about VBA. Would the power programming book be too advanced for me? And does that power pogramming book contain everything in the dummy book? I want to save money (of course) and if the power programming book covers most of the dummies book and more, I might as well get that, if that is the case. I eventually want to use VBA for financial modelling/valuation.

    Thanks.

A macro does what you tell it, not what you want.

Excel 2010 Power Programming with VBA

I have the 2007 edition, it is brilliant.
You will find you will read it over and over again, and each time you will use something else.
It explains from basics up with vba. Takes a while to understand it and then you will find everything falls in place.

The vba excel for dummies is mostly from this book anyway, but with smaller print and less information.

Drop the dummies, and go for the better book. Its worth it!

    Re: VBA books

I have got the dummies one. I thought the dummies came out first, so Excel 2010 should be a carbone copy of the dummies with minor adjustments and addition. Is it fair assumption?

    Re: VBA books

So I just received this book from Amazon. 1000 pages of good stuff. One question though: Regarding the CD that is suppose to come with it, where can I find it? I expected the CD to be in a pouch attached to the back cover but it's not there. If it came with it separately, I don't think I threw it out. Did Amazon just forget it?

    Re: VBA books

That is definitely a Seller question.

But to answer your question, my copy came with a CD attached to the front inside cover (Barnes&Noble)
