Macro to delete/edit other macros

I have a workbook that is used to load other workbooks, and then save a new instance of the cleaned up data. The macros in the original go along for the ride to the new instance. How can I prevent that? Also, how can I edit (from within a macro) the "workbook open" macro? The original uses some commands there that need to be changed in the new one. Thanks.
