Re: grouping rows

try playing around with pivot tables.

if you still have a problem, perhaps it would be easier to help you if you uploaded a sample workbook, showing what data you are working with, a few examples of what your expected outcome would be, and how you would arrive at that (remove any confidential info if necessary).

To Attach a File:

1. Click on Go Advanced
2. In the frame Attach Files you will see the button Manage Attachments
3. Click the button.
4. A new window will open titled Manage Attachments - Excel Forum.
5. Click the Browse... button to locate your file for uploading.
6. This will open a new window File Upload.
7. Once you have located the file to upload click the Open button. This window will close.
8. You are now back in the Manage Attachments - Excel Forum window.
9. Click the Upload button and wait until the file has uploaded.
10. Close the window and then click Submit.
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

Regards
Ford

@ FDibbens
I see no indication this is a duplicate post...perhaps you deleted the other post. The OP's profile indicates only one started Thread.

@ mmcoordes
Please post examples of what you'd expect the output to look like.

Re: grouping rows

This information is off my works database, it look great within it but the the system on allows a default export to excel. So for me to validate information from sources combined within the work database, this excel sheet would speed that process of validation by 10 fold. It is a great question because this data will change every time I export, I guess what I need is a macro to run each time I get a new spreadsheet.

Thanks again for the prompt replies, I really wish I had more in depth experience to excel.

i understand that some of this data may be sensitive, but if not, would it be possible to upload an exact copy of what the data looks like when you 1st get it?

Hi -

Not sure if this is what you're looking for.

The output goes in sheet name "results", run the test macro in the first sheet.

Re: grouping rows

see if this is something you can work with? on sheet2, column A, enter 90, 91, 92 etc downwards. then in B2, copied down and across, use this...

=IFERROR(INDEX('Records List Export'!$A$1:$M$38,MATCH(results!$A2,'Records List Export'!$A$1:$A$38,0),MATCH(results!B$1,'Records List Export'!$A$1:$K$1,0)),"")

Re: grouping rows

Hi -

The previous file is different from the new one.

What would you want for those records that has multiple Personnel,Position etc?

You need to define your requirement clearly.

Re: grouping rows

I apologize for the confusion, I will try and explain the best I can. My initial upload was to minimize the data size a be server friendly. What I'm after is the activity "#023" are to be compared to the "#024" so maybe better said is the #024 have information that ultimately gets transposed to #023 in the database. I need to validate all #024 data and compare it to #023.i hope I didn't confuse you all. Oh, and that's why the #023 has additional lines, that if you see has the long number relating to the #023. Thanks forum guru's for your help.
