Im trying to put a line at the top of a row of cells if the first cell is NOT empty
Basically if A1 has a value then A1:U1 are to have an above line. If A1 is blank then there is no formating.
Ive tried using "formula" option in conditional formating with =A1>0 but that is not working and doesnt shift the cell refecence down when coppied to multiple rows, it still references A1 instead of say A2.

Thats exactly how I want it to work and the exact formula I used but its over lining every cell even if the reference cell is empty...
I think I figured out why its still over lining cells that are empty... The cell that is blank references another cell with an If statment that returns "" or a value based on conditions. I added a column in the spreadsheet to return a 0 or a 1 if A1 is "" and used that for the true formula in the conditional formating. Basically is =W1=1 then it gets an overline... its an *** backwards way but I dont see how to get jsut a true statment to work?
You mean that in my sample sheet you see red line above of eatch row?
I see ONLY these rows>>> 3-8-12 &17 to have a red line above them as only in these rows exist something in column A!

You can MODIFY the formula like this, if you do't want to have an extra column.
=$A1<>""
