    Button name problem

    Hi folks,

    I was wondering if you can make the continuation of the button numbering in the selction pane stop. If I delete a set of buttons, lets say button 1 till 10, and create a set of new ones, they will continue starting at number 11.

    If this problem was already asked, I'm sorry I couldn't find it :x, anyway any help or suggestion is greatly appreciated.

    Unfortunately I cannot show the file as I had to sign a confidentiality contract at the start of my thesis.

    Cheers.

    An elaboration of my button problem see the italic text below;

    I'm currently doing my master thesis, I generate a lot of data and this has led to over 40 sheets in my excel file. To make it easier to navigate through my pages I decided to try and make buttons in the frozen top left corner of all the sheets. In order to not have have 40+ "go to that sheet" displayed all at once I grouped them, hiding and showing them depending on what button you press. I did this by recording a macro while I first Hide all buttons and then show the appropriate ones. After recording the macro, I ofcourse assign them to the buttons.

    Now here's my problem, the macro records "show button 5" which is my home button and actually button number one if I copy paste the button into other sheets. This results in a failure of the macro, I decided to delete all my buttons and to create them again. However, the numbering continuous (if you create button 1 --> delete it --> create a new one --> it will show up as button 2 in the selection pane).

    With over 50 buttons in 40+ sheets this is kind of a problem for me, I hope I'm being a retard and that the solution to my problem is actually really easy.

    Anyway, please help, Cheers.

    Why not write the code so it doesn't rely in the button name?
    If posting code please use code tags, see here.

    Re: Button name problem

    Because I do not know how, basically I let Excel write the code for me with the "record macro"-button.

    My knowledge on writing macros in excel is zero. I looked at the codes, but besides the obvious I do not posses the knowledge to write a code myself, nor do I have time to learn it at the moment.

    But if there are other ways to do it, how? (with the record macro button)
