Smile Macro to call data from a specified file in the sheet

Hi Excel Forum ( my first post btw :-) )

I am a total beginner to macros, just been playing today and picking up some bits and pieces (I have done a few similar things and am fairly good with excel normally).

I am a teacher and want to be able to quickly update my Markbook. In the top row are a list of the homework titles that students have completed on the website MyMaths. I can export files from MyMaths which I then save as with the same name as the homework title in my top row.

What I want is to have a macro that when I run it will call the contents from the above homework title and paste them into my markbook.

    In Logic, something like

Select current cell (eg. "MyMaths Angles Homework" in A1)
Go to directory c:/blah/blah/"Contents of current cell".xls)
    Copy cells A2:A30
    Go back to active sheet
    Move down one cell
    Paste marks

Hope that makes sense and someone can help.

    Tom

Hi Tom, could you please post a copy of the markbook and one of the homework workbooks? This should make it easier to write a solution for your request
