Force Paste Special --> Values in a worksheet

Hi - I am looking for a way to disable any form of paste in a worksheet except Paste Special --> Paste Values

I am using the some code copied below - provided by user rowlandjp some months back ... (THANKS!)
I have used the code as instructed, but for some reason, when I try copy / paste from one workbook to another all paste and paste special commands are disabled (including Paste Special --> Values).

The only time that Paste Special Values becomes enabled (and performs perfectly as I require) is when I
    a) copy cells from source
    b) close the source workbook from which I have copied from
    c) ... and then paste in my target workbook (the one with the code)

... and then it works but as far as I can see this is the only scenario that it works. Needless to say i am looking for a way of not having to close all source workbooks for this to work in my workbook.

Any ideas as to why? a remedy?

    Thanks,
    Victor

    Vofstein,

I guess that depends on how you open the second (target) workbook. If you open the workbook from the Excel instance that has the protected workbook open, then the restrictions placed on the first workbook will also hold true for the second workbook. If you however open a second instance of Excel (from the start menu or task bar) and open the target workbook in this second instance you should not face any restrictions with regards to pasting your information.

Unfortunately your tip does not solve my problem

When I open up my workbook (the one which i want to protect) ... it defaults to having all paste and paste special functions disabled. Even if it is the only excel instance open.

    Any other ideas?

You need to open two separate instances of the Excel application itself. One for each workbook.
