Unhappy Accessing Comm port WITHOUT using MSCOMM or downloading 3rd party apps - possible?

I have a piece of hardware in com port 3 from which I need to read data.

The problem I have is that I do not have, nor cannot get, MSCOMM as my employer does not allow it. Nor will my employer allow downloads of third party software such as Strokereader.

In such a case can I interrogate the devic in the comm port using VBA?

Re: Accessing Comm port WITHOUT using MSCOMM or downloading 3rd party apps - possible?

    Many thanks for replying.

I've downloaded the file and ran the code but have noticed it contains Code for Comm which I cannot use and so I got the error "sub or function not defined".

If the accompanying files get round that problem, then how do I utilise them?
