Unable to sort tabe after pulling data from SharePoint into a new tab

Using a IQYFILE (Web) to pull data from SharePoint into a new tab in Excel 2010...In Excel, I would like to make a column numeric, sort the data and filter it, but I get the following error when trying to sort and change a column to numeric "Cannot make changes to this table until you refresh it with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation. Alternatively, you can unlink this table to make your changes". I am doing all of this using a macro. After I pull the DB data down from SharePoint...I no longer want to update the data on SharePoint if I make changes in my Excel copy of the data. The copy I have in Excel I would like to own and manipulate without updates going to SharePoint (standalone).

    I have tried:
    1. On the IQYFile command -- .Refresh BackgroundQuery:=False
    2. Deleting all the connections -- verified that connections got removed -- using the following command: ActiveWorkbook.Connections(ActiveWorkbook.Connections.Count).Delete
    3. Copying the data from the current tab to a new on

Suggest you try option 3 but with paste special - values to break the link to the query.
