Function won't recalculate

I've written a simple function that counts the number of entries in a range of cells. If the cell is empty, lined through, or shaded grey (ColorIndex=15), the cell is not counted. If the target range contains only cells that are blank or contain values, the function works fine. However, if the cell contains text with a shaded grey background, the function does not recalculate until I edit it (F2, Enter). How can I make the function recalculate automatically?
