Button to update employee details in another tab

    Good day

I have a spreadsheet that contains employee info for an organization. It has several tabs for each department. The tabs are named in the following manner: Marketing – 32145. I have a button amongst a few called ‘Update Record’, through which I update employee details on a spreadsheet.

What I would like to do is update details on the main sheet (which I named “Sheet5”), click the aforementioned Update button and update the details in a specific tab using a unique Department Id. Based on the selected department number (through a Combobox), I want the employee in the relevant tab to be updated. Original post is here

Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks

do you have an example of your workbook, it would help to clarify what you are trying to do exactly

there are several ways to do what you want:
    1. a worksheet that acts like a form
    2. a form
    3. other more complicated methods

i'm having trouble visualizing what you are trying to accomplish without being able to see what you are talking about

from reading your original post, i think you need to brush up on your form creation

check this link, a really simple explanation of how form work

(I would still recomend using an input page with a button to populate the data based on your criteria, aka the poorman's form)

    Thanks scott

That is a much better solution. I have created the form with all the necessary controls. I am however outputting the results to the individual tabs on the workbook. I have a combobox on the form and this combobox I have added department numbers. The department numbers in the combobox are named in the same manner as the department numbers in the individual tabs in the workbook. I want to output the data to the corresponding department number in the worksheet.
