Drop Menu/List of Icons/images that look and work like any Excel Meun Items.

Please, stop the insanity about creating all of these lists/menus using icons/images instead of words. Hasn't someone already created a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)? A line by line instructions with screen shots? Can some just show the way to change an image to an Icon (if that is what needs to happen in order to create a list of Icons/Images) and then how to use place these icons/images in the list/menu instead of words, and then how to make those Icons activate a second window for user input? Any windows based program that has drop menus has icons/images beside the words or just the icons/images. Why is it so difficult to find a simple solution for this ever popular demanding request? I select a drop menu, it has Icons/images instead of words, these icons/images when selected will bring up other data or fields associated with the icon/image. This seams to be one of those forever hidden secrets that programmers do not want to disclose. It's like having a Format style for Architectural units in Excel. Nope, you have to write this awful code/formula to convert values from another cell then hide that cell(s). Would someone please just cut the quick and create these as plugins or easy instructions? Emphasis on EASY.

dallen, welcome to the forum

based on the 75 (and counting) people who have viewed your thread, i think we are all waiting for you to do some creating?

excel is what it is, and many things are possible with it, while others are not. Which 1 is this? Im sure, given the time and inclination, some of the big guns here could show you how its done (or even show you how they have already done it - ages back)

If you are talking about a straight-forward, off-the-shelf drop-down, they are real easy to make, just have a list of items to include, go into Data Validation, select LIST, point to the list you just made and---presto, 1 drop down list (if the list is on another page, make a named range of that list, and then in DV, instead of pointing to the range, use =the-named-range-you-just-created)

It wasnt that hard, was it?, nor is a "forever hidden" programmers secret (I am no programmer by the way)
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

Thank you for a quick responce. I do know how to do off the shelf data validation for drop down lists. What I do find frustraing is when I need that list to be images or icons and not just the words. When the data valiation has been completed with all of the cells that have an icon on it, the drop menu shows all blank, no icons/images. This is where the insanity comes from. So many people are asking how to dothis yet there does seem to be an easy way to do it with having VBA knowledge. I do not have that yet. This is what I need help with. Please advise? Thank you!
